Noren (traditional Japanese curtains) are used in restaurant, pub, and store entryways to protect from wind, sun, rain, and dust. They are also used to announce a shop's name and that they are open for business, They are often used as dividers for rooms, entryways, doorways, windows, or for wall decoration in the home.
