These Tegata are authenticated original handprints and signatures by the named wrestlers. These are not prints. Each Tegata is unique. Please view the image carefully to view the autograph, handprint ink splats, surface conditions, and edge conditions unique to each handprint and autograph.
A Tegata is a traditional way of sharing a wrestler's autograph with his supporters as a gift for being a supporter. Only wrestlers in the upper two divisions are allowed to produce them. Once a wrestler retires he is not able to create more Tegata (unlike many other sports). All of these tegata are previously owned. Wrestlers are not allowed to sell tegata.
Each Tegata is created on a white sheet of paper backed by firm paperboard with a very small (1/16") gold colored border. Tegata handprints are usually inked in black or red and then signed by the wrestler. The reverse of each Tegata has the wrestler's name in English letters as authenticated by a sumo expert in Japan. There is an unpublished serial number for each Tegata on the reverse as well. bigSUMOfan will mark the reverse for provenance.
Some tegata will have 1, 2, or 3 Red Stamps. This is an indication of the wrestler having reached the high ranks. Though not a hard and fast rule 3 indicates Yokozuna while 2 are for Ozeki. If there are no stamps then either the wrestler chose not to add stamps or it is from early in a wrestler's career before reaching Ozeki or Yokozuna.
Dimensions of the Tegata are 9.5" w x 10.75" h.
Original tegata from other wrestlers may be available by request. Please contact admin@bigSUMOfan.com. Pricing and availability will vary.

Conditions of note: Edges of Tegata are easily bruised and none are perfect. All dents/blemishes are not noted. The "bigSUMOfan.com" text on some images is a watermark on the digital image and not on the actual tegata.
The Onokuni tegata has age discoloration and the name of the person he gave it to written on the front.
